Gentlemen, it is an honour to take
over the Presidency this year and I hope that I can continue the fantastic work
of Ian and his committee. It is a pleasure for me to note the continued
diversity of sports represented on the committee this year and we look forward
to working closely with Mike, Karen and Sarah to ensure that the residency
continues to do well. We have two key goals for the coming year.
Firstly, we believe that it is
important to continue building relations with our alumni. The most enjoyable
element of playing Blues golf has been the friendships I have made with alumni
and to that effect we are trying to encourage alumni involvement in our events.
Secondly, we believe it is crucial
to continue our support of Right to Play, a charity which seeks to help
children from war torn areas through providing the opportunity to play sports
rather than getting sucked into conflict.
I look forward to meeting you all
throughout the year and representing you at the club.

The Hawks' Club has been in existence since 1872, and represents the cream of sportsmen in the University of Cambridge. Membership is by election only, and the usual criterion is that the candidate should have his blue – i.e. have taken part in the match against Oxford in his particular sport. Many famous sporting names have been, or are, members – Chris Brasher, Ted Dexter, Mike Atherton, Tony Lewis, Gavin Hastings, Rob Andrew, to name just a few.
The Clubhouse is at No 18 Portugal Place, a pedestrian-only street opening off Bridge Street. No 18 is towards the Park Street end, and there is a multi-storey car park nearby, accessible via Jesus Lane. The Clubhouse is on 4 floors comprising basement Bar, ground floor Members Room, second floor Dining Room, and top floor Meeting Room and Steward's Flat. For further details see The Club
